RBC Donates $15,000 to Oshawa Community Health Centre Children's Mental Health Programs
Travis Capes, Regional Vice President, Durham along with Lavern Bryan, Senior Account Manager, Health Care Professionals, RBC Royal Bank, recently presented a cheque in the amount of $15,000 from RBC Foundation to Brian Joyce, Program Manager at Oshawa Community Health Centre. The donation will support the "Good Sense Series" at Oshawa Community Health Centre. The program series focuses on early intervention to avoid anxiety, conduct disorders and mood disorders in children 0-18 years. The goal is to help educate children, youth and parents on signs of mental health issues, increase awareness and reduce the stigma.
"One out of every five North American children suffers from a mental health problem. Fortunately, early identification, intervention and education can make a real difference in the lives of these children. RBC is proud to help support organizations such as Oshawa Community Health Centre that deliver children's mental health programs; because one out of five is one too many "stated Mr. Capes.
Lee Kierstead, the Executive Director of Oshawa Community Health Centre expressed his appreciation; "This generous grant will support our Good Sense Series where the focus is on children's mental health. Without community partners like RBC, we could not deliver these free, necessary and important programs to those that need them the most."
